Ηistorisches Hotel

Das Gebäude war 1827 zunächst als 'Johnny Johnstons Grog Shop' bekannt. In den 1830er Jahren war der Hafen ein beliebtes Ziel für erschöpfte Walfänger und Händler, die ein Jahr auf See waren. Da es keine Strafverfolgungsbehörden gab und billiger Schnaps im Überfluss vorhanden war, war die Prostitution ein lukrativer und beliebter Beruf im Hafen. Von der alles andere als idealen Szene betroffen, versuchte Johnny, nicht nur das Hotel, sondern auch sein Umfeld zu verändern. Er änderte den Namen des Hotels in 'The Duke of Marlborough', den reichsten Mann der Welt, um dem Ort wieder Eleganz und Respekt zu verleihen. Im Laufe der Jahre wurde das Gebäude durch Brände und Kriege in Mitleidenschaft gezogen, aber die Eigentümer bauten die Mauern immer wieder neu auf.
